How Much Does a Dummy Ticket Cost? Compare the Options
In this article 5 sections

The phrase "dummy ticket" covers very different documents. A low price tells you little unless you know whether the document represents a real reservation, a paid ticket, or an invented itinerary. Prices vary by provider, currency, route, and date; check the amount shown before payment.

Option 1: a cheap PDF with no booking

Some generators put your name on a ticket template without making a reservation. A code on that PDF may be invented or belong to someone else. Its low price does not turn it into proof of travel.

Presenting a fabricated booking can lead to a refused application or denied boarding. The consequences depend on the authority and circumstances. For example, the UK's guidance on false documents explains how a false document may affect an immigration decision. Do not submit an invented itinerary as an actual booking.

Option 2: a genuine temporary flight reservation

A temporary reservation is a real booking hold made before the ticket is paid or issued. It has a booking reference and an expiry or ticketing deadline. Its price is the service fee, not the cost of the flight. Check the booking status using the airline or the provider's stated verification channel.

A reservation can support a visa itinerary or proof of onward travel only when the relevant authority or airline accepts a reservation. It is not a paid ticket and does not guarantee a visa, entry, or boarding. Check the current price and options before paying; the total and currency appear before confirmation.

Option 3: a refundable paid ticket

A refundable ticket is an issued ticket that you pay for up front. Its fare and refund conditions depend on the airline, route, booking channel, and fare rules. Before buying one, check:

  • whether the fare is fully or partly refundable
  • any cancellation deadline and service fee
  • when the refund is expected after cancellation
  • whether the official requirement actually calls for a paid or issued ticket

The ticket may cost much more up front than a reservation fee, but it may be the right document when the applicable rule requires an issued ticket or when you intend to take that flight.

The comparison in one table

Option Upfront cost What it provides Main limitation
Fabricated PDF Often low No genuine booking Can be treated as a false document
Temporary reservation Service fee Real booking hold while active Not a paid ticket; acceptance and validity vary
Refundable ticket Full fare paid first Issued ticket, subject to fare rules Refund terms, fees, and timing vary

Choose the document the rules accept

Start with the official visa checklist or the airline's travel-document requirements. If they accept a reservation, a genuine hold can document your proposed trip without paying the whole fare. If they demand an issued or paid ticket, a reservation alone is insufficient. Never present a fabricated PDF. Our flight itinerary guide gives you a checklist to use before submitting documents.

Create a temporary flight reservation for visa files, airline checks, or proof of onward travel.
